Dr. Jin Sam Kwak, CEO of Wilus, participated in the wireless and mobile communication trends of 2019 in a short term lecture hosted by the Journal of Korea Information and Communications Society (KICS) on August 28, 2019. Dr. Kwak talked about the topic of 3GPP 5G NR Overview and Physical Layer during the Wireless Mobile System section.
Wilus standards experts participated in ICT standards education for standardization specialists - Fundamentals of international standards for mobile communication hosted by the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) and the Ministry of Science and Technology on July 24th, 2019. Wilus experts shared their insights on the topic of ICT Technology and standards, Mobile communication standardization case studies, 3GPP Standardization and IEEE 802.11 standardization procedures.
The Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) hosted ‘The laborer’s vacation support program workshop and awarding ceremony’ in Seoul Dragon City Hotel, on June 19th, 2019.
Wilus was selected as one of the top firms to promote vacation activities amongst workers, and was presented the award by the CEO of KTO.
Dr. Ju-hyung Son, Wilus standards expert, made a contribution to the ICT Standard Weekly published by the telecommunications Technology Association (TTA), on the issue of standardization phases of VVC (Versatile Video Codec).
Wilus is actively participating in standardization for MPEG-I (ISO/IEC 23090) Video (Part 3 VVC) and Audio (Part 1, 2, 4) to support hyper-reality/hyper-quality content. This is following their success of adopting their technology as MPEG-H 3D Audio standards (ISO/IEC 23008-3).

Wilus has started to develop core technologies for Wi-Fi 7, the next generation of wireless LAN technology. This effort builds on Wilus’s successful track record developing Wi-Fi 6 technologies, which resulted in a strong Wi-Fi 6 patent portfolio.
In April 2019, the Wi-Fi 7 R&D project suggested by Wilus was selected as a national project by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), which will conduct research on key Wi-Fi 7 technology areas through 2021.
The project will be carried out through a consortium of Wilus and network operator SKT, with Wilus taking the lead in technology development and standardization, and SKT promoting technology commercialization.
